gofund.me/ffa74f8eIf youāve been to Manchester Vet within the last few months, chances are you may have seen or met Clefton! Clefton was scheduled to be euthanized back in the end of November, after he was born with a cleft palate. Though the survival rate of cats with cleft palates is less than 1%, one of our RVTs offered to foster him, in hopes of giving him a chance. Much to our surprise, Clefton had a will to live, and is now 4 months old! He is strictly tube fed, meaning every bit of food and water he gets has to go directly into his stomach through a tube passed down his esophagus, 5 times a day. As you can imagine, his age makes that increasingly difficult, due to his growing size and incoming adult teeth. The only way for Clefton to continue thriving is through surgery to repair the cleft. Because cats rarely make it to adulthood with this defect, the repair has to be done by a very specific specialist, who is out of state. This procedure is a multi-step process, and comes with a significant price tag. One of the ways his team is raising the money for Cleftonās surgery is through fundraisers, one of which we are actively helping with. There will be several baskets in our waiting room from now until April 17th. You can buy tickets to be put in either the ādogā or ācatā drawings, to be entered to win a themed basket. Each basket comes with an assortment of animal themed items, as well as a gift card to a local business. In addition to these baskets, they have many others that will be raffled off through online fundraisers, or through other events to sponsor Clefton. If youād like to get raffle tickets, or to leave a donation for Cleftonās surgery, there are collection bins at our front desk, and the link to his gofundme is posted in the comments.
Helping us meet his goal for surgery isnāt just helping Clefton, itās also providing education on a rarely seen congenital defect, and paving the way for future animals.
